Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Jeanene’s lived on both coasts and briefly in the middle of the country.
A breast cancer survivor, she was diagnosed in 2013. Biopsy, surgery, chemo and radiation are all behind her now, but she is still receiving treatment in the form of a daily pill that kills her hormones because her cancer thought they were yummy. Unfortunately, her body also thinks they’re yummy and has been complaining about the lack. These complaints voice themselves in the form of massive hot flashes, and stiff, achy joints.
She’s ambivalent about “weather” and “seasons”, but wants fruit trees that need “chill hours” so she’ll sacrifice the non-weather of San Diego proper for the colder winters one finds at a slightly higher elevation. It helps knowing that Palm Springs is only a couple of hours away when one wants to warm up a bit.
Hobbies include: reading, writing, watching tv, dyeing silk, snuggling with dogs, talking to chickens, belly dancing, crafting stuff, brewery tours, snacking, daydreaming, playing video games, surfing the internet and playing solitaire (among other things.)
Jeanene writes under the pen name Mara Burke but is (for now) unpublished.
